The Fly 2026 blown wide open with no protected players for first time since 2021

The Fly Sixes Lacrosse League is anyone’s for the taking in 2026 as there will be no protected players for the first time since the inaugural competition in 2021.

In previous years, each team competing at The Fly has retained a selection of players from the previous year to maintain continuity for fans and to create a link between players and teams.

But, in 2026, we’re switching it up and removing protected players, meaning no players will be intentionally retained from the 2025 competition and all players will be chosen by coaching teams during The Fly’s live draft in February next year.

More details about the 2026 draft will be announced over the coming months but this change could really put the cat among the pigeons!

Can Forge hold onto their men’s and women’s titles? Or will Swift, Hustle, and Rise take advantage of the shake up and snatch the win?

Applications to play at The Fly 2026 are still open until Sunday 23 November so if you want to join the UK’s first Sixes Lacrosse league and take on some of the best players in the world, get involved today.
