Cara and Stansbury to take on Rise challenge at The Fly 2026
Vince Cara returns to The Fly Sixes Lacrosse League for the first time since 2021 as he takes on the Head Coach role with Rise Men in 2026.
The 2021 title winner will be joined by The Fly debutant James Stansbury as his Assistant Coach.
Cara secured the inaugural The Fly men’s title with Rise, winning four of his six games in charge including an incredible 13-12 victory over Forge in the final held at Lilleshall National Sports Centre in ‘21.
Since his only turn as a coach at The Fly so far, Cara has continued to coach, helping the England U20 Men’s team to second place at the 2024 ELF U20 Men’s Championship and the England Senior Men’s team to third place at the 2025 ELF Men’s Championship both in an Assistant Coach capacity.
Cara said:
I’m excited to be returning to The Fly this year having previously being involved in its first year.
I’m really looking forward to seeing how sixes has developed and bring some of my new ideas to this!
Joining Cara as his Assistant Coach is The Fly newcomer James Stansbury who has been working his way up the ranks in the England Lacrosse Aspire Programme over the past few seasons.
In the summer, he travelled to Austria with the Aspire Programme where he coached teams competing in the 2025 United World Games, securing the gold medal in on elf the tournaments.
He also leads the University of Exeter men’s team as their Head Coach in the BUCS Premiership Division.
Stansbury said:
I’m really excited to be joining The Fly for 2026. I’m passionate about developing the game and bringing creative, high-tempo lacrosse to the sixes stage.
I’m looking for players who aren’t afraid to think outside the box and showcase something different, combining fundamentals with real innovation.
Check out Cara and Stansbury as they aim to bring the title back to Rise men on 16 & 17 May (Northern Leg) and 30 & 31 May (Southern Leg).
