Rise announce coaching teams for The Fly 2022

Rise has announced its women’s and men’s coaching teams for The Fly 2022.

The big news is that Matt Sharp, who was Rise women’s Assistant Coach at last year’s competition, is returning to the team as Head Coach with debutant Chloe Watterston by his side as Assistant Coach.

For the men’s team, Sam Ives and Rob Ingham Clark, both newbies at The Fly, will be taking up the respective Head Coach and Assistant Coach roles.

Sharp brings with him a wealth of coaching experience in addition to his run as Rise Assistant Coach last year.

He is currently Head Coach of the Wales women’s development squad, was Head Coach for the Wales women’s squad at last year’s Home Nations sixes event, and also coaches at a university and club level.

Watterston has been coaching for five years and in that time has already built up significant experience across multiple levels of the game.

She has coached no fewer than six different club sides, working all the way through development groups to Premiership level, and similarly at university level where she has coached three universities including Premiership division sides.

Watterston has also coached on the England Lacrosse Girl’s Regional Academy since 2019, taking on several coaching roles including Head Coach for the U13 Academy and Lead Coach duties, nurturing the best up and coming young talent to move through the National Academy and England U19 set-up.

Currently, she is coaching at Marlborough College as well as having coaching and management roles within the South West women’s senior regional squads.

Ives is a talented and young coach who is currently Lead Coach on the England Lacrosse Boys’ Academy and a Head Coach at Stockport Lacrosse Club where he has coached across various teams and age groups since 2013.

A goal-keeping specialist, Sam also has international playing experience with England U23s and senior development squads.

Ingham Clark joins The Fly with coaching credentials spanning across all formats of the game from club to international level.

From club level with Camden Capybaras and Steelheads Box Lacrosse Club, through to Head Coach of Wales men’s U20s, Belgium senior women’s sixes and English Universities, as well as Domestic Assistant Coach with the England men’s box programme, Ingham Clark brings bags of experience throughout the game in addition to playing experience with South of England box and Home Nations Lions Mixed Lacrosse squads.
