Forge announce coaching teams for The Fly 2022
Forge has announced its women’s and men’s coaching teams for The Fly 2022.
It’s really exciting on the women’s side of things as Conor Dockery returns as Head Coach after guiding Forge to second place at last year’s competition, where he’ll be joined by Pippa Waterman as Assistant Coach.
With the men’s team it’s Joe Longley who takes on the Head Coach role with Gavin Donaldson returning as Assistant Coach.
In addition to helping Forge into The Fly final last year, Dockery has over a decade of coaching experience across multiple levels and is currently working with some of the brightest young talent in the country on the England Lacrosse Girls’ National Academy to produce future international stars.
Having also played at two World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, his knowledge of box lacrosse proved vital when coaching in the brand new sixes format.
Waterman is a Head Coach on the England Lacrosse Girls’ Regional Academy programme, as well as coaching on the National Academy bringing through the brightest young talent to the U19 squad after previously being an U19 squad member in her own playing career.
She has also coached at club and school level with Blues Lacrosse Club and Caterham School, including taking up the Director of Lacrosse role.
Longley has significant playing experience at international level having represented Wales at multiple World Championships at both U19 and senior level.
He has club coaching experience across junior, U19 and senior levels in addition to working with England Lacrosse Academy programmes and Wales Dragons, university and development squads.
Alongside helping Rise win at last year’s The Fly, Donaldson has been Head Coach for the British Army men’s and women’s lacrosse teams since 2016 where he has worked tirelessly to develop the game.
He has been an England Lacrosse Regional Academy Coach in the Talent Pathway and recently has been appointed as the Senior Development Coach for the Wales women’s national team as well as assisting Godolphin School with their lacrosse programme.
